Farewell to my Wonderful little girl Milli

This week, on Monday after coming back from South America and meeting my family in Uraguay, Peru and Chile, I came back to say goodbye to one of my most loyal and loving family members....my little girl Milli.....Milli was my pet Jack Russell, who for 12 years shared a life with me through thick and thin, a little girl whom I loved and whom always looked at me with such loving eyes..........
...a little girl who arrived to me so tiny she would sit on my shoulders while I drove around the Central Coast, and would lick my neck as we ventured out togehter on our trips.
I came back from South America to find her so terribly thin, her body wasted yet her spirits not broken. I think she was waiting for me, to say her goodbyes. A trip to the vets confirmed what I had feared, she was at the last stages of Kidney failure. I decided to bring her home for the weekend and then have her put to sleep on the Monday...as I needed to say goodbye to her in my own way.
Watching her decline so fast in those three days was very hard to bear, yet I was glad to have made it back in time, to say my goodbyes in a way she and I understood. It was terrible watching her constantly vomit and finally not been able eat and eventually not even drink water and how this was causing her discomfort, yet she never once complained. As she never did even when she gave birth to 6 puppies 11 years ago with that tiny little body of hers....brave...brave little girl!
We took her to the Blue Mountains on the Sunday and that night her, Cliff, Henry and I took her for her last walk in the cool fresh air of the Mountains. I carried her wrapped in a blanket as she no longer could walk, too weak to do anything but surrender to the love and care we bestowed, and yet we felt her appreciation of this special walk and she seemed to say thank you for this special way of saying goodbye.
Milli, you gave me so much joy, so much loyalty and you taught me so much about love. I am glad to have had the time with you and though I will miss you I am glad to know you had a good life and you no longer are suffering.
A cheers to you little girl!! My most loyal friend!!!! I will miss that waggly tail and those tender looks of yours. I loved you and our life together, so for that I am so very grateful.
Goodbye my sweetest rascally girl!
I burried Milli on Monday afternoon at my parents place in the Blue Mountains with my Dad. A little plant with white flowers and a statue to honour her are found at her grave, a place I can go and see her and remember her with happiness for a great life once lived and shared.
